HOW TO KEEP CHECK ON DOG BITE

Dog bite is a common problem among dogs. Controlling Puppy biting is a challenging task for all the dog lovers. Generally people encourage puppy biting for their enjoyment. But strictly speaking, it can turn into a serious safety hazard if it is not checked.
When puppies are young, puppy biting is essentially a natural and important behavior. When they start teething, it becomes more frequent. When their teething stage is on, they get pleasure in biting as they feel itching in their gums which becomes irritating for them. Puppy enjoys biting hands and feet of his owners.
It is essentially important to control and check Dogs bite. Puppies can be taught to reduce biting/mouthing. It is necessary to start educating the puppy from an early stage.
The general guidelines to be followed in checking dog biting are as follows:
• The trainer can integrate Puppy socialization and Dog Bite inhibition training.
• One should not hit or slap the dog as the he gets the impression that the trainer is playing with them or he is getting scared with him. This may result in more serious problems.
• The dog should be trained enough to differentiate between the right and the wrong behavior. All the acceptable behaviors should be encouraged.
• It is necessary to make choice of games you wish to play with your dog. Games comprising of chasing, tug of war, wrestling etc should be avoided. Such games only initiates dog biting or nipping.
• A Dog also bites when he tries to exercise his dominance over the trainer and this may be the start of the many behavioral problems among dogs. It becomes necessary to check such actions immediately.
The question arise is how to stop dog biting? There are certain techniques to be followed to check dog bite.
• The puppy should be taught to control his biting force. This can be initiated through its littermates. This practice should be continued and followed when the new puppy comes home.
• It is essential to check the biting problem as early as possible when they are young. When the teething phase is on, they can be provided with a toy or a bone to chew.
• If your dog bites, make him realize that he hurts you every time when he bites. Stop playing with him. This is the most popular method being used. By doing so, they try to sort out their biting habit among themselves only. It is a natural way to teach dogs. When puppies bite or nip each other, it only stops them when one puppy starts yelping.
• The bad dog biting cases can be controlled by putting the thumb inside their mouth under their tongue and the other finger under their chin immediately when they tend to bite. Hold it there for about few seconds. This action will make him feel uncomfortable and they resist biting again.
• For acute biting problems, this training technique is helpful. Wear a pair of glove and put a foul tasting substance on them. The dog will soon realize that biting won’t be tasty.
• Also, pinching or choking collar on the puppy every time when he bites, sometimes works. But this can be followed in older puppies (around 6 months) to check dog bite, though this technique is quite unpleasant for the dog.

IDENTIFY WHY YOUR DOG BARKS EXCESSIVELY
THERE ARE MANY REASONS WHY DOGS BARK
* Isolation
* Being Confined (Behind a barrier, in his kennel)
* While they’re playing
* Barking at other animals
* Need of Attention
* Separation from Pack or Familiar Surroundings
* To Alert others, (or you) of Danger
* Simply for Fun

Prevent inadvertently rewarding your dog for barking. This may happen in many ways.Comforting, treating or cuddling them to make them stop. This actually encourages this behavior an makes the dog assume that you are pleased by his/her actions.
Shouting at them, Since dogs will always be dogs, and do not understand English (or whatever language u speak)so they just might assume that you are joining in, even trying to play.
Having them use barking to get their way, Some dogs bark when they are hungry, thirsty, wanting to be released from their cage or to be let inside.
De-sensitize your dogs from what triggers their barking
De-sensitizing basically means diverting their attention during the occurrence of the trigger, Eg. Doorbell, Phone rings, Vacuum. Review the scenarios below.
Barking at the Doorbell
Doing this requires artificially setting up the particular scenarios that causes barking.
* Telephone Ringing
o Call your phone from your cell phone a couple times, you can either ignore it by doing nothing, continuing to repeat until your dog realizes its not a big deal and gives up.
o Also you can have some of his favorite treats handy, the second the phone rings you give him a treat, be sure to keep his attention on you. Do this until he associates the “telephone ring” with him getting a treat.
* Doorbell Ringing
The same process would apply, the goal is to have your dog associate these sounds with an event with which you have control. Have your spouse our kids ring the doorbell on your mark, keep your dogs attention on you, by giving him a treat the second the sound occurs.

How to Train Your Dog to Stop Barking
Barking At Passers By
Barking at passers by is a very difficult problem to stop. The reason being, its not really a scenario you can easily set up artificially. Also your dog considers passers by or visitors (mailmen, Garbage men) to be threats, and is rewarded every time the “threat” is averted by them leaving. Therefore, the most effective way to deal with this behavior would be to have your dog properly obedience trained. This will make it simple for you to consistently communicate to him that this is unacceptable behavior.Otherwise another method would be to block his view of the street or the window, which would only be a temporary fix and much unwanted hassle. Lastly If the dog keeps barking at the same person, maybe a friend that comes over or the mailman, a solution could be to have a talk to them and have them give your dog one of his favorite treats so that the visits or passes by of these individuals would be more pleasing to him than a threat.

STOP YOUR DOG FROM BARKING
Bark collars are another way to help stop unwanted barking. they are easy to use and require little owner intervention. once your dog begins barking, this action activates the collar. This deters the dogs barking remarkably well. this isn’t a form of training but, if you are looking a quick, simple and effortless method of solving this problem this would be a good idea. There are many dog bark collars out there, so it is important to choose the best dog bark collars one of which is listed here
CONVENIENCE DE VOCALIZATION
This method i recommend as ONLY a last resort in EXTREME cases of excessive barking where all else has failed. So only if you think you have run out of options ( which is extremely rare ) this method can be considered. Convenience devocalization (also known as debarking or bark softening ) is a surgical procedure, similar to a laryngectomy, is applied to permanently reduce the volume of your dogs vocalizations. If it comes to this (hopefully not) Discuss your options with your veterinarian.
The most Effective way to solve any behavioral problem in your dog is proper obedience training. Once this is achieved and your dog understands what your commands mean, it will be easy to communicate your likes and dislikes to your him and improve your relationship with him.

Potty Training Puppy Using Crate

Dog Crates are devised by man for dogs live in accommodation and teaching them good habits. Like all other animals, puppies defecate, which is a biological function of eliminating waste products after digestion and assimilation of food ingested.
Puppy initially eliminates whenever and wherever there is an urge to defecate without realizing the sanctity or importance of the place. The difficulty is of missing communication between the owner and the puppy. The need is of making the puppy understand by training lessons.
The success of the crate training has following described four pre-conditions:
1. Confining in a crate:
Puppies do not understanding where to defecate in a required confinement in a dog crate kept outside house, is good and necessary for easy potty training. Do not keep waste paper or cloth under the crate, which can be damaged by puppy.
By their nature dogs are reluctant to eliminate at their living place. The dog crate needs to be of bigger size for free movement of the puppy and it serves the purpose of bed for the puppy to sleep. In the area the puppy sleeps, it does not urinate or defecate and by nature is capable of holding the urination for a longer period till the owner let’s the puppy out. The large crates also encourages the puppy to eliminate at one side and sleep in the other. An eight to ten weeks old puppy can hold urination for 7 to 8 hours.
As the puppies grow into adulthood, they require larger sized crate, with a provision of creating a partition making two separate spaces.
In the duration of housebreaking, the puppy should be kept in the crate. Please ensure that before you put the puppy in the cage take him/her out so that the elimination need is carried out before confining in her/his cage. No food is to be kept in the crate only toys for chewing and a cloth sheet.
In due course, you shall see that puppy becomes faithful in performing all the learned activities and can be left around freely for longer durations at a time.
2. Essentials of House Breaking for puppies:
If the crate puppy is going to be living inside the house, it is a necessary to carry out potty training immediately. You will find this process, easy and accomplish your goal in a very short amount of time.
3. Devoting Time for Crate Training:
It is necessary for the training time to be schedule at a fixed time and adhered to precisely on a regular basis.
4.   Dog Training and Praise:
For ensuring that crate puppy eliminates at the place outside, the training is conducted with the help of a leash. Use of leash enables your dog to remain near you, and helps in having controlled supervision by you. Puppies feel distracted by any sound, smell or nearby animal and will not defecate. In this situation a gentle leash shall drive away any curiosity, a cause of distraction from his/her mind and will allow your puppy to feel comfortable to defecate.
5. Using the Leash & Words to Teach:
It is beneficial to use the same commands for when it is to go potty like “go potty†establishing a link with the action of training or “go poop.†By repeating this your puppy will catch on very quickly. For each training action a word needs to be associated like: “outside†for going Outside.
When the puppy has learned the training and is performing well, give your puppy a lot of praise and affection.

6. Verbalization of Training Lessons:
It is important to communicate with the your a standard verbal communication for each activity being trained and practiced. Thus there shall always be verbal link to the action you decide the puppy needs to do. Everyone in the family should learn the verbal communication terms and needs to be consistent for the best results.
7. Punishing the Puppy:
If some unexpected action happens, punish the crate puppy, when you see the puppy in that action, otherwise it shall be meaningless, because the puppy would not know why you are punishing.

Tips for Preventing the Begging
Don’t look at your dog while you are eating or pay any attention to them, this will encourage the behavior and they will more likely expect you to give them food. Make sure the whole family is well aware of not giving any food to the dog at any time they beg. This means no food from the desk, chair, table, couch or other area. The only time your dog should be allowed food is when it is put into their bowl. If you are giving them treats make sure to use the sit and stay command before putting the treats in the bowl for them. You want your dog to be patient and polite by first sitting and waiting for the treat, then being rewarded for their patience. While you are eating your meal put your dog in a sit/stay or down/sit position and make sure they remain that way for the duration of you eating your meal. If you cannot get your dog to stay in a sit/stay position then put your dog on a leash and tie them to something so they won’t be able to come next to you and beg. If your dog gets up from the sit/stay position then calmly walk over to your dog again and get them to be in a sit/stay position again. Its very important to be persistent, your dog will always want to beg for food so it will take awhile before your dog stays in a sit/stay position throughout the time it takes for you to eat your meal. Just be patient and don’t get frustrated or annoyed with your dog.

Dogs Begging For Food at the Table
Lets all admit we feel so bad when our dogs are sitting there, using their cute little faces to convince us to give them our food. We all give in, and once we do they never stop begging.The way to eliminate your dog begging is never give them the food in the first place, if they know they can get some food they will never stop trying to get more. Be persistent and don’t ever let your dog foul you into feeling bad for them, this is how the behavior will never be stopped or conquered. There are also health issues that may occur when feeding your dog table scraps, and is a risk to your dogs health care. Since human food can have more calories, richness and fat then their food, the dog is not accustomed to this and may develop weight issues or a digestive disorder. This is why when feeding a dog table scraps they may become more gassy, have worse smelling breath, an upset stomach or loose stools.

Dog Behavior Training – Drooling Dogs
Don’t you just hate when your sitting down relaxing, and all of a sudden your dog leans over and gets drool all over you. Many of us have no idea why dogs drool, or if there is anything we can do to stop it. Sometimes there is nothing you can do, for instance if you have a dog breed such as a: boxer, basset hound, Saint Bernard, Newfoundland, Great Dane, Mastiff or other drooling breeds, they happen to drool naturally so you can’t do anything to fix it. Drooling naturally is from the loose skin around their jaw, which allows saliva to escape more easily than other breeds. To try and keep a clean house without drool you can give your dog many different chew toys to let your dog be chewing constantly so that they end up swallowing their saliva to prevent drooling. Your dog could be drooling for many reasons such as: having a dental problem like a broken tooth, an allergic reaction to a food that is ate, or infection of the gum’s. If they are anticipating to get their food they may start drooling from over excitement. Drooling can also be as simple as a splinter stuck in their teeth, which you should be able to easily remove. If their is something stuck in their mouth and you can’t get it out make sure to go and see the veterinarian, if it is lodged in their mouth they may end up swallowing it or the object damaging their mouth. If the dog has a tooth or dental infection, you can watch to see if they yelp when picking up objects or can’t chew and swallow their food as well due to the pain. Car rides tend to make a dog nauseous and is a definite cause of excessive drooling. It is best not to feed them right before taking them on a car ride, make sure the windows are rolled down or have them in the front seat. It’s always best to get your dog checked by a veterinarian if they seem to all of a sudden start excessive drooling, they will be able to find the cause and it may be more serious then you thought it was. If your dog breed is a natural drooling dog you can buy a bib to put around their neck as this will keep them from drooling on themselves or the furniture. Also keep any type of wipe around to use to wipe their mouth when they are drooling, besides that there is really no other ways to stop your dog from drooling. If you have a dog that naturally drools then that’s something you will just have to deal with, and if your dog starts drooling all of a sudden there is usually a reason behind it.

Tail Chasing
I’m sure everybody has seen dogs chasing their own tails, and all carrying the question of, why would a dog be chasing its tail? Well there are many answers to this question. Dogs may be chasing their own tail because of learning behaviors, medical problems or both. This may be a result of operant conditioning where behavior is being affected by its consequences. This is associated with stimulus and response. Since dogs are social animals the attention they receive from their owner is usually a positive reinforce causing increase in the frequency of the performed action. When dogs are only having little or no attention, the dog behavior turns into attention-seeking behavior, the dog becomes willing to do anything for the least bit of attention. Another cause is if a dog is bored and not getting enough exercise. A dog may have anxiety, and if a dog has had an extreme injury previously it may start to chase that region once becoming aware of it. These dogs seem to be neurologically normal. Severe tail chasing has been attributed to psycho-motor epilepsy, also may be described as seizure related problems. Many different peripheral or superficial conditions involving irritation, pain, or other sensations in the tail can trigger the tail chasing to occur. Tail chasing can be the start of compulsive disorders and needs to be stopped when happening.
Methods of stopping the Tail Chasing
Keep track of when the behavior occurs: frequency, duration, and intensity to report to your veterinarian. You don’t want to encourage the behavior in any way, instead ignore the behavior completely, don’t laugh or give any praise to the dog chasing its tail. Drug therapy may be needed in some cases, you want to have the veterinarian screen the animal to rule out all causes and provide proper treatment. Overall, the best solution is to give your dog the proper attention and exercise needed each day.
