THE MOST DESIRED TECHNIQUES TO TRAIN PUPPIES

It is necessary to start puppy training as early as possible. Initially make him familiar with the name you have chosen for him by constantly repeating it. One should start puppy training when he is around 8 weeks old.
First Week

1. Puppies are like small children, so immense care is required to nurture them, during their first week at home. He should be taken to vets for regular checkups and necessary vaccinations. In the initial week a sample of their stool is taken to check for worms and appropriate vaccination is being given accordingly.
2. A separate sleeping area or a crate should be made where he can be kept.  This is a prerequisite in Puppy training. You should ensure that the area you have designated for him is comfortable enough and does not restrict his movements. Also designating the separate area for him is essential for potty training and leash and collar training.
3. Potty training is the key element in puppy training.  One should start practicing it from the very first day. After every meal, take them out or to the toilet. Remove their water bowl during night once they go off to sleep.  Place it back in the morning once they get up.
Second Week
1. In order to train a puppy, it is required to use certain common phrases like “take it, “jump”, “throw it”, “sit, stand” etc. These phrases have to be repeated to make them familiar with these words.  It is preferable to take the puppy out for a stroll for in training a puppy.
2. Observe when he plays by himself, watch his behavior and styles, and start playing with him. Make them play with toys, bone and balls.
Third Week
1. During this phase in training a puppy, they are required to be checked. They should be corrected if they nip or chew chords, shoes, furniture etc. Chewing becomes frequent in their teething stage. Give them a soft toy or a bone to chew. Make them realize that any wrong action committed by them is not acceptable. Always maintain eye contact with them while giving instructions.
2. Making them familiar with the table manners is an important part of puppy training. Use of words like” no” and “ok” for food is essential. Correct them if they steal food. You should correct them for excessive barking, biting and whining.

Fourth week
1. He should be left free to explore the house. Dogs being friendly animals should be taken to the parks and encouraged to play with the children, subject to supervision. Also, they should be left alone for short durations so that they develop the habit of staying alone.
Fifth week
1. Devote quality time with your puppy. Play games like putting obstacles and encouraging them to cross. Make them accustomed to the activities of the daily lifestyle like occasional baths; nail clipping, brushing, removing ticks etc. Praising them by patting or rewarding them is an essential part of puppy training.
Puppy training is a tough job and needs lots of patience and devotion. Dogs should be treated with kindness and consistency.

  • Ways to Ensure Your Puppy Stop Barking and Whining

    Training a puppy is a must! Whining among puppies is a very common characteristic which is inherent. To get control of their owner and to attract attention, puppies generally whine, bark and howl. It is a matter of concern and should be addressed and resolved at an early stage; instead it becomes a habit which is quite infuriating and wearisome for the owner.
    Dogs bark due to many possibilities,  which could be confinement in a lonely place, separation from the owner, lack of comfort etc. Here are the techniques and means followed during puppy training which are helpful for your success.

    Do Not Confide Dogs To Small Areas:
    Dogs should have enough space to roam about. Whining becomes more frequent if they are being kept in a small room or if their movements are restricted. If the dog is continuously whining then it should be taken to his designated toilet area. It is a vital consideration for your barking dog training.

    Acceptance Of Separation and Solitude
    Teaching a puppy to accept separation and solitude is an integral part in puppy training. The puppy should be left alone at times. It is helpful in reducing the separation anxiety.

    Ensuring Comfort Of Puppies:
    One should make sure that the puppy is comfortable. It is very essential to make sure that the dogs/ puppies are fed properly. They also whine or bark, if they are thirsty/ hungry, or feel too cold or too hot, sick, or even if their toy got stuck under a piece of furniture and being frightened by something.  If all their physical needs are being met, they will be at ease.

    Dogs Should Not Be Neglected:
    The owner should never let the puppy feel abandoned. They want their master’s attention. Training a puppy include entertaining it with interesting toys that he can play with, especially when there are guests in the house. This is helpful in changing the noisy barking dog into a quite barking dog.

    Understanding the Nature and Behavior of Your Puppy And Dogs:
    It is a prerequisite for puppy/dog training to understand their nature and behavior. Sometimes dogs make noise when they are emotionally confused. For example, they want to go for a walk. In such situations, it is advisable for the owner to act as per their requirements in order to make them feel content and comfortable. Some dogs are not comfortable when the house is full of guests, or if there is a loud noise in the surroundings. In such a situation, the owner should device ways to divert his/her  attention to other things where the puppy will feel relaxed.

  • HOW TO KEEP CHECK ON DOG BITE

    Dog bite is a common problem among dogs. Controlling Puppy biting is a challenging task for all the dog lovers. Generally people encourage puppy biting for their enjoyment. But strictly speaking, it can turn into a serious safety hazard if it is not checked.
    When puppies are young, puppy biting is essentially a natural and important behavior. When they start teething, it becomes more frequent. When their teething stage is on, they get pleasure in biting as they feel itching in their gums which becomes irritating for them. Puppy enjoys biting hands and feet of his owners.
    It is essentially important to control and check Dogs bite. Puppies can be taught to reduce biting/mouthing. It is necessary to start educating the puppy from an early stage.
    The general guidelines to be followed in checking dog biting are as follows:
    •    The trainer can integrate Puppy socialization and Dog Bite inhibition training.
    •    One should not hit or slap the dog as the he gets the impression that the trainer is playing with them or he is getting scared with him. This may result in more serious problems.
    •    The dog should be trained enough to differentiate between the right and the wrong behavior.  All the acceptable behaviors should be encouraged.
    •    It is necessary to make choice of games you wish to play with your dog. Games comprising of chasing, tug of war, wrestling etc should be avoided. Such games only initiates dog biting or nipping.
    •    A Dog also bites when he tries to exercise his dominance over the trainer and this may be the start of the many behavioral problems among dogs. It becomes necessary to check such actions immediately.
    The question arise is how to stop dog biting? There are certain techniques to be followed to check dog bite.
    •    The puppy should be taught to control his biting force. This can be initiated through its littermates. This practice should be continued and followed when the new puppy comes home.
    •    It is essential to check the biting problem as early as possible when they are young. When the teething phase is on, they can be provided with a toy or a bone to chew.
    •    If your dog bites, make him realize that he hurts you every time when he bites. Stop playing with him. This is the most popular method being used. By doing so, they try to sort out their biting habit among themselves only.  It is a natural way to teach dogs. When puppies bite or nip each other, it only stops them when one puppy starts yelping.
    •    The bad dog biting cases can be controlled by putting the thumb inside their mouth under their tongue and the other finger under their chin immediately when they tend to bite. Hold it there for about few seconds. This action will make him feel uncomfortable and they resist biting again.
    •    For acute biting problems, this training technique is helpful. Wear a pair of glove and put a foul tasting substance on them.  The dog will soon realize that biting won’t be tasty.
    •    Also, pinching or choking collar on the puppy every time when he bites, sometimes works. But this can be followed in older puppies (around 6 months) to check dog bite, though this technique is quite unpleasant for the dog.

    IDENTIFY WHY YOUR DOG BARKS EXCESSIVELY

    THERE ARE MANY REASONS WHY DOGS BARK

    * Isolation

    * Being Confined (Behind a barrier, in his kennel)

    * While they’re playing

    * Barking at other animals

    * Need of Attention

    * Separation from Pack or Familiar Surroundings

    * To Alert others, (or you) of Danger

    * Simply for Fun

    STOP DOG BARKING TIPS

    Prevent inadvertently rewarding your dog for barking. This may happen in many ways.Comforting, treating or cuddling them to make them stop. This actually encourages this behavior an makes the dog assume that you are pleased by his/her actions.

    Shouting at them, Since dogs will always be dogs, and do not understand English (or whatever language u speak)so they just might assume that you are joining in, even trying to play.

    Having them use barking to get their way, Some dogs bark when they are hungry, thirsty, wanting to be released from their cage or to be let inside.

    De-sensitize your dogs from what triggers their barking

    De-sensitizing basically means diverting their attention during the occurrence of the trigger, Eg. Doorbell, Phone rings, Vacuum. Review the scenarios below.

    Barking at the Doorbell

    Doing this requires artificially setting up the particular scenarios that causes barking.

    * Telephone Ringing

    o Call your phone from your cell phone a couple times, you can either ignore it by doing nothing, continuing to  repeat until your dog realizes its not a big deal and gives up.
    o Also you can have some of his favorite treats handy, the second the phone rings you give him a treat, be sure to keep his attention on you. Do this until he associates the “telephone ring” with him getting a treat.

    * Doorbell Ringing

    The same process would apply, the goal is to have your dog associate these sounds with an event with which you have control. Have your spouse our kids ring the doorbell on your mark, keep your dogs attention on you, by giving him a treat the second the sound occurs.

    How to Train Your Dog to Stop Barking

    Barking At Passers By

    Barking at passers by is a very difficult problem to stop. The reason being, its not really a scenario you can easily set up artificially. Also your dog considers passers by or visitors (mailmen, Garbage men) to be threats, and is rewarded every time the “threat” is averted by them leaving. Therefore, the most effective way to deal with this behavior would be to have your dog properly obedience trained. This will make it simple for you to consistently communicate to him that this is unacceptable behavior.Otherwise another method would be to block his view of the street or the window, which would only be a temporary fix and much unwanted hassle. Lastly If the dog keeps barking at the same person, maybe a friend that comes over or the mailman, a solution could be to have a talk to them and have them give your dog one of his favorite treats so that the visits or passes by of these individuals would be more pleasing to him than a threat.

    STOP YOUR DOG FROM BARKING

    Bark collars are another way to help stop unwanted barking. they are easy to use and require little owner intervention. once your dog begins barking, this action activates the collar. This deters the dogs barking remarkably well. this isn’t a form of training but, if you are looking a quick, simple and effortless method of solving this problem this would be a good idea. There are many dog bark collars out there, so it is important to choose the best dog bark collars one of which is listed here

    CONVENIENCE DE VOCALIZATION

    This method i recommend as ONLY a last resort in EXTREME cases of excessive barking where all else has failed. So only if you think you have run out of options ( which is extremely rare ) this method can be considered. Convenience devocalization (also known as debarking or bark softening ) is a surgical procedure, similar to a laryngectomy, is applied to permanently reduce the volume of your dogs vocalizations. If it comes to this (hopefully not) Discuss your options with your veterinarian.

    The most Effective way to solve any behavioral problem in your dog is proper obedience training. Once this is achieved and your dog understands what your commands mean, it will be easy to communicate your likes and dislikes to your him and improve your relationship with him.

    PUPPY CARE

    4-cute-puppies-wallpaper-640x480

    Newborn puppies are like newborn babies who require immense care and love.  Keeping a puppy is a big responsibility and demands consistent commitment.
    Puppy care is a very demanding job. Like infants, the early 36 hrs after their birth is very critical and especially if it has been separated from his mother. The puppy can be kept in a separate bed or a box with a heated lamp in it.  This is done to maintain the temperature at 97degrees during the first week after his birth. In the second week it can be lowered to 80 degrees and further to 70degrees in the third week. This lasts for first few weeks as the puppy does not emit his own body heat. They require the warmth; otherwise their body becomes too cold and vulnerable to pneumonia.

    In puppy care, it becomes truly essential to feed the new born puppies over and over again. It is important to feed them with the first mother’s milk within the first twelve hours of their birth, as it is full of nutrients which keep them from becoming ill. Avoid giving cow’s milk to them. Bottle feeding is a simpler and easy technique to feed them. It is necessary to burp them after every bottle feed. You can also feed them by giving various Puppy formulas available in the market once your puppy is 4 weeks old.
    Potty training is a very important element in Puppy care. You can start potty training when your Puppy is 5 to 6 weeks old. You can take him to the bathroom or the designated area that you have chosen for his potty training. You can use certain commands like sit down, hurry up etc. During the initial weeks after their birth, it is not feasible to take him to the toilet. During this time, one can make use of puppy pads. These puppy pads can also be used to potty train the puppy. Once the Puppies are old enough one can take them out for a stroll after every meal.
    75082-main_FullIn Puppy care it is essential to make sure that the area, in which he is residing, does not restrict his movements. He should be given enough space to roam around.  It is not desirable to keep puppies in an isolated place, as they feel lonely. Avoid tying them as long as possible. Scolding or hitting the puppy is not the solution to puppy related problems.
    During their teething stage, they develop the habit of chewing and biting. Their gums itch and they develop the urge to chew. They want something in their mouth all the time. At this stage it is better to provide them with a chewable toy or a bone, to chew. It is essential to play with puppies. They like playing with the toys, balls etc. You can also play with them by building an obstacle and then motivating them to jump across.
    The training of the puppies is an integral part of the puppy care. The training aspect may comprise of certain exercises which can be practiced on a regular basis. Such exercises are essential for their mental stimulation. Repetition of commands (your puppy is familiar with) is essentially required.
    Puppy Care is a very challenging job. Lots of patience love and affection is required to nurture them.  One should devote quality time to raising your puppy. They should be praised when they perform any good action.
